A Day of Charity

Well Red Day has come and gone. Keller Williams annual day of giving back to the community is May 13th and this year our office chose a program to benefit Betty Griffin House and their emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence.

As a private, nonprofit agency, Betty Griffin House provides emergency shelter to abused women, men and their minor children. Other support services available to shelter residents and non residents include a 24-hr crisis hotline, individual and group counseling, forensic / medical rape exams, and legal assistance. Confidential individual and group counseling are available in all parts of St. Johns County including, Hastings, Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Johns, St. Augustine and St. Augustine Beach. For more information or to make a donation, visit their website at www.bettygriffinhouse.org

We worked with Winn-Dixie holding a food pantry drive from 11:00AM to 6:00PM. The results were truly outstanding, with four huge cartloads of groceries (non-perishables) collected and $137 in cash which went to a Winn-Dixie gift certificate to fill future needs. What I found most interesting is that some of the people who made the largest donations were disadvantaged. One gentleman brought half of his food allotment for the month as a donation for the pantry, driving home to pick up the extra food from his house.

I have included a few pictures of the day showing our progress and results.
